Why Stress Management is Important?

Stress is part of our lives, but it should be managed. No matter how skillful we are in time management, we cannot completely get rid of stress. (Uopeople, 2021).

If stress gets out of control, it can affect our happiness and health. We need to learn how to manage stress if we want to be healthy and happy in our lives and day-to-day activities. (Uopeople, 2021).

Living with high levels of stress is dangerous. Lawrence et al. (2020) write that "If you’re living with high levels of stress, you’re putting your entire well-being at risk. Stress wreaks havoc on your emotional equilibrium, as well as your physical health." (para. 2).

In addition, high levels of stress affect how we think and hinder us from enjoying life. (Lawrence et al., 2020).

Though stress cannot be completely eliminated, it can be controlled. We should learn how to manage it, how to live with it, and how to use it to our advantage. It should never be out of control.

How Stress Has Affected My Life?

I thank God I am learning about stress management. Poor time management has been affecting my relationships with family, friends, and school. Poor time management always makes me frustrated. When my stress is out of control, I don't enjoy doing anything.

I sometimes get caught up in a situation where I don't know what to do. There can be a deadline for assignments, a discussion forum waiting for me, journals and written assignments. I always struggle with the problem of trying to do all of the activities at the same time. This is a source of my stress.

Three Stress Management Techniques to Decrease Stress Levels.

- Time management: I will make a list of tasks that I want to do, starting with the most important. I sometimes want to do everything in one day, as I've already mentioned above. I will divide my time and deal with tasks one by one. (Lawrence et al., 2020).

- Spend time with my family and friends: I will spend time with my friends and family to get rid of loneliness. Loneliness might come from me or my wife, but being with someone who makes me happy is one of the best ways to manage stress. (Malik, 2016).

- Do something I love:  I will take breaks and spend time with my wife and baby whom I love, play some video games, go out, do some exercises, and go swimming. (Malik, 2016).
