Cornell note taking strategy
The Cornell note-taking method is one of the best strategies for avoiding plagiarism and enhancing learning. I have chosen this method for the following reasons: It has three different sections that serve different purposes. The cue column helps me record questions that arise during the lecture and prepare for exams. The note-taking column helps me record what I learn in class in my own words. The summary section helps me reflect on the main ideas and concepts of the lecture. (Uopeople, 2021)
This note-taking method helps me study by allowing me to review my notes effectively and recall the information better. It also helps me avoid copying the professor’s words verbatim, which is plagiarism. Compared to other note-taking methods, such as the outline method1 or the mapping method, the Cornell method provides more guidance and structure for organizing and summarizing my notes. It also encourages me to think critically and ask questions about the material.

Different types of information and courses may require different note-taking strategies. Therefore, it is important to choose the strategy that suits the content and your personal preference. I agree with the University of the People (2021), who stated that "There is no one size fits all form of note taking. The method you choose will depend on the class you are taking and your own personal preference." (Unit 6: Introduction to Note Taking Strategies, Q3, para. 1)
Conclusion
To emphasize, what works for you may not work for others. I would like to conclude by saying that we should not limit ourselves to one note-taking strategy. Sometimes, teachers or instructors may suggest or require a specific note-taking method. Therefore, it is good to be familiar with different note-taking styles. They may differ in format, but they all have the same goal: to help us learn and apply what we learn. (Robinson, 2018)
