Introduction

the cell has to go through what is known as cell division for it to reproduce. According to Dr. Das, (2022), "cancer occurs when normal regulation of cell division is lost and becomes uncontrolled" (Discussion unite 4, Para. 1).

Cell division is what results in health function of tissues. when this division becomes uncontrolled, it results in abnormal production of cells. Cancer is caused when the mechanism that regulates cell division is broken down. (Dr. Das, 2022).

 Leukemia or Blood Cancer

Leukemia, is a group of blood and bone marrow cancer. it most happens in the white blood cells. Leukemia is broken in types that shows how fast or slow it develops. for instance, "acute or chronic which used develops in the white blood cells (Lymphocytes or Myocytes) (Burke, 2021).

Burke, (2021) comments, on acute Leukemias "acute Leukemias are the most common cancer among children and teens, accounting for almost 30 percent of child hood/teenage cancers, whereas chronic Leukemias often appear in adults (Leukemia, Para. 1).

 How Leukemias develops?

The blood cells are made in the bone marrows. These are both red and white blood cells. Red blood cells are carriers of oxygen while white blood cells help in fighting infections. Leukemias attack on the bone marrows where the blood cells are made. (Burke, 2021)

The health person has the cells constantly been produced in the bone marrow and majority of these are red blood cells. Leukemia causes abnormal production of white blood cells that do not function properly. I agree with Burke, (2021) when he said, "this hinders the patient's immune systems, leaving them to unprotected and unable to fight off diseases effectively" (Leukemia Para. 2).

The abnormal production of white cells that do not function properly disturbs the production of the red blood cells, which leads to not having enough oxygen in the blood. The abnormal white blood cells then move throughout the body, collected by organs and cause damage in the organs. (Burke, 2021).

 Causes and risk factors

Scientists have looked at some of the causes of Leukemia. Most of them believe that a combination of genetics and environmental factors contribute to the development of the disease. Looking at the family history would be important. the disease can be inherited. These could be certain inherited disorders , such as Down syndrome and immune systems problems. (Burke, 2021).

However, some Leukemias are connected to smoking tobacco and exposure to radiation and other certain chemicals. It is sad to learn that, even some of "chemotherapies" that are used to treat other types of cancer may cause Leukemia.

 Therapy for Leukemia

The following are the most common treatments you might find out there:

Thermotherapy: in most cases, this is the most used treatment for Leukemias. "chemical-based drugs are given in pills, blood infusions or just direct injection. Drugs may depend on which type of Leukemia the patient is suffering from. The Doctor might even prescribe combination of drugs.

Biological therapy: these are biological-based drugs like "antibodies". these antibodies can be used to help a patient's immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells without destroying health cells.

Radiation therapy: the patient might be exposed to X-Rays that kills cancer cells and prevent it from spreading. It is usually used before Stem cell transplant.

Stem cell transplant (bone marrow transplant): Doctors might make a decision of replacing the damaged bone marrow with new and health bone marrow. Before replacement , the diseased most first be completely destroyed using chemotherapy and Radiation.

 Conclusion

it is important to use a therapy that deals with a cause not symptoms. However, it should not cause more damage or other health side effects. Some of the therapies above attacks cancer directly and try remove and prevent it. In health, it is not wrong to ask questions. Find out the after therapy side effects that might follow after the treatment. In my country Zambia, we are not serious when it comes to asking some serious questions concerning the therapy about to be given.
